Crown Ruler proudly presents the return of Danilo Plessow aka MCDE. A DJ’s DJ in every sense of the word - he is one of modern dance music’s most venerated.

This February catch a master at work as he captures dancefloors across Australia.

A consummate DJ who stands for something richer: taste over trends, context over convenience, and connection over spectacle. For over 25 years Danilo has been uncompromising in his approach. Technically crafty, instinctually curious and armed with an expansive knowledge shaped by jazz, soul and disco roots – his work celebrates musical lineage while keeping the dancefloor firmly in the present.

At a time where club culture has been hollowed out under the pressure of commercialism, Danilo Plessow is deadly serious about placing music before image.

The CV is commanding. A production discography of club weapons commonly found in record bags throughout clubs and festivals globally. His label MCDE notably gave birth to the influential Raw Cuts series, whilst he has continuously flexed his sonic eclecticism via aliases such as Inverse Cinematics, Vermont, Basic:variation and Jayson Brothers. A recent unveiling of his acid house series Rude Futures via Rush Hour demonstrates a tasteful nod to his love for Chicago sounds. All the while, his focus on recording and producing live music using traditional analogue hardware, via his label Space Grapes and through his work with the bands Another Taste and Jeroboam, further underscores his deep-rooted acumen in the studio.

As a DJ, very few come with his wherewithal and artistry. Plenty have wide-ranging record collections; rare are the ones who can seamlessly mix between genres without sacrificing flow for eclecticism or excitement for a display of pure technical skill. Widely regarded for digging deep, he boasts a heavyweight record collection and knows exactly how to use it. Danilo has been sought out to guide the world’s most revered dancefloors - his sets fluid, expressive and full of spirit. From defining mix releases for the likes of fabric and DJ-Kicks, to his cult-like show on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, Danilo remains one of the world’s most compelling selectors.
