Family Friends: Chaos In The CBD

The second of many reunions. Family Friends returns to kick off 2022 with another bonafide dance-floor scorcher.

After a memorable debut at The Boatbuilders Yard in December, we continue to flaunt the power of music and human connection throughout the summer and beyond. An ongoing collaboration between two of Naarm’s most trusted party purveyors - WAT Artists & Crown Ruler, the two agencies are joining forces to fill the city with all the right frequencies.

Sunday January 16th at the brand new incarnation of New Guernica, we welcome one of the hottest propositions in the current house music firmament. The brothers from Aotearoa, Chaos In The CBD return back to the South Pacific for a homecoming club room flex.

The Helliker-Hales brothers aka Chaos In The CBD have gone from strength to strength in recent years.

The now proudly Peckham residents are undoubtedly one of the most compelling of a new crop that redefined house music over the past decade. Their distinctly lush productions have gained cult-like status, while their DJ prowess has seen the tandem headline the world’s most esteemed clubs and festivals. From their 2015 Rhythm Section breakout ‘Midnight In Peckham’ to 2021 releases ‘Brainstorm’ and ‘Te Puke Thunder’ on their own imprint In Dust We Trust, the duo continue to be leaders of the new wave in club music. “We play heavy – not techno heavy” says Louis. Dancers expect an explosive night with plenty of curveballs as we reunite with our close friends after an extended hiatus brought by the pandemic.

Not to be outshone, the party will also bring an impressive billing of some of our city’s finest. Come on a journey through a wide spectrum of club sounds brought with expertise by Baby G, Handle Sound System, In2Stellar, Rona, Sam Alfred and Zjoso. A night guaranteed to get you sweating and feeling fantastic!

Find freedom and connect with our like-minded music lovers. A genre-bending exploration through forward-reaching club sounds. Kick off 2022 correctly with Family Friends and be reminded of what makes our hometown so special.

This event will take place on the lands of the Wurrundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge their Elders past and present, and pay their respect to all First Nations people. Always Was, Always Will Be.
