Mndsgn & The Rare Pleasures (LA/Stones Throw) - Oceania Tour
Carhartt WIP Presents Mndsgn & The Rare Pleasures for their debut live-band tour in the Oceania region in association with Crown Ruler and Planet Trip
Mndsgn aka Ringgo is an LA based producer, beatmaker and songwriter. Growing up in a family of Filipino descent, his childhood was punctuated with music and dance at every turn; from his father playing covers on the guitar to attending local church revivals, self-teaching on a household keyboard and his big brother showing him rap and beat production at a pivotal age.
For his debut full live-band tour in the Oceania region we’re celebrating the release of his third album on Stones Throw Records - ‘Rare Pleasure’. While skeletal versions of the album date back to 2018, it’s release in 2021 was truly signified by the ability to record final sessions in the studio with the instrumental collaborators Kiefer Shackelford (piano), Swarvy (guitar, bass), Will Logan (drums), Carlos Niño (percussion), Fousheé, Devin Morrison and Anna Wise (vocals), Miguel Atwood Ferguson (strings).
From these and other master craft contemporaries who contributed to the record, Mndsgn’s band for the tour ‘The Rare Pleasures’ has been formed; complete with heavy hitting instrumentalists Swarvy, Will Logan, Brandon Bae and Lionmilk.
See them at your favourite spots in Oceania starting on the precipice of Summer with stops across New Zealand, the East and West coasts of Australia and rounding it up in Bali, Indonesia. The tour is fit with a supreme selection of supporting acts where in Eora Nation/Warrang (Sydney) they’re supported by GLO, Setwun & the soulstranauts + Djs Casey & Eddie Diamond, at the Night Cat in Naarm (Melbourne) by Swooping, Kuzich, Kiki Shoe, Baro Sura & Silentjay and Lori, and in Boorloo (Perth) as part of Lofi Store & Move Present POOKIE & more.
You can also witness Mndsgn & The Rare Pleasures support UK nu-jazz royalty Kamaal Williams in meanjin (Brisbane) towards the tail end of October, and supporting Surprise Chef for their star-studded lineup at the Coburg Velodrome alongside Izy, Tiana Khasi and more local soul heads.
