Raised on a mantra of “freedom, healing, peace and power in music”, Ruby’s musical drive is fuelled by the desire to make connections with people and community through serving rhythms that unify.
Since relocation from her hometown Amsterdam to London in 2007, Ruby has spent over a decade working behind the scenes in independent music. Starting at the counter of London’s renowned Honest Jon’s Record store - where she deepened her musical knowledge and record collection with an extended love for soul, jazz, disco, dub and dance music.
Since then she has worked across pivotal moments in music: managing Theo Parrish’s record label Sounds Signature and working as a label manager for Giles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings which earned her an early radio host slot on WorldWide FM followed by a monthly radio slot on NTS in 2017. In 2023 her love for radio continued with a new monthly show on NTS called Radiant Life where she continues to draw on her mixed bag of musical goodies.
This has led to her performing at London’s most well respected clubs including Koko Electronic, Corsica Studios, Fabric, Oval Space, Phonox, Pickle Factory, Giant Steps and Village Underground as well as club and festival tours across the globe, having toured multiple times in Australia, Brazil and Europe.
Behind the scenes Ruby is just as important a force - the founder of Don’t Be A Creep, an arts initiative working to make music and nightlife spaces safer through creative campaigns in partnerships with festivals, promoters and venues.
