SO.Crates 'Malcom After Mecca LP Launch'

Soul-infused Hip Hop duo SO.Crates hit Sydney waters for the first time, celebrating their latest LP drooping with the weight of its title - Malcolm After Mecca

Frontman Cazeaux O.S.L.O. assures us, though, that the record is not about Malcolm, not even about Mecca - but instead about the equation, the search for redemption. And while the gravity of the title is misconstrued, safe to say the gig will still be heaving with the gravity of the exceptional soul-studded talent joining them at Mary’s Underground, Saturday July 9th.

Naarm via Tokyo multi-instrumentalist Elle Shimada will be gracing the stage, also celebrating her latest single - “Omnipotent 全能”. The jungle-infused political jazz number is a war cry beseeching the will to reclaim one's own power amidst political and social oppression, inspired by underground dance floors resistance movements of QTBIPOC dance music locally and globally.

Also hitting Mary’s is Sydney local Setwun - the smooth soul seeker blessed with mellifluous vocals and the capacity to blend half-time grooves to dance floor rhythms in a simple click. This will be Setwun’s last hometown show before he departs for warmer shores up in the UK, so be sure to get down to not miss out on the one of a kind trance of a Setwun set.
